Todays Education Scenario.

Today’s Education Scenario.

What kind of education does the child need in initial years? This topic has been elaborately discussed by acclaimed educationists and policy makers who represent different education boards and consequently the school syllabus of different classes has been framed out by these education Boards i.e. ICSE, CBSE PSEB, and others. The idea is to provide the correct kind of education at the correct time. The child's mind needs time to evolve and needs adequate space to develop itself to its fullest potential. Knowledge needs to be delivered in a phased manner based on the absorption power of the child. Till the tenth standard it is important to acquire adequate knowledge of all the major and relevant subjects without confining oneself in a particular stream.  Our school curriculums are based on this theory, but unfortunately due to large scale commercialization of the education sector and to have maximum monetary gains, certain education institutions are sometimes indulging in unscrupulous practices and misleading the students.

Undue pressure is being put on the tender minds by preempting the choice of a particular career from seventh standard onwards. Concentrated education packages are being offered based on the choice of career by the student. Choosing the career in such an early stage limits the vision of the child and prevents him from acquiring all around education. All the subjects as defined by different boards are important and, other than that, putting unnecessary pressure on the child is totally unjustified and grossly wrong. If the child properly learns the laid down curriculum by the respective boards then it will definitely empower him or her to pursue the career of choice at the right stage.

Parents need to take into account the vulnerability of childhood to the excessive pressure of studies and thus plan their education accordingly. We are unnecessarily obsessed by grades and marks scored by the child in the different subjects and in doing so, we overlook the important aspects of growing years. We just want the child to deliver good grades and in doing so we are putting at stake the all around development of Childs personality.

Ever mushrooming IIT & JEE centre’s for special coaching are aggressively selling their education packages which surprisingly start from seventh standard onwards. Huge money is spent on advertisements in daily newspapers in order to collect students.  Bait is being laid everywhere by these professional sellers who otherwise call themselves educationists to catch these innocent students who can give them big money. These kinds of offers are a total farce and you need to go strictly by school curriculum till 10th standard. By doing this you will be building a strong foundation for your career choices.

Students should be advised and encouraged to do their best in school education and try to acquire in-depth knowledge of all subjects. They should also be given an opportunity develop other talents like music, dance etc. The aim should be to create a balanced personality.
